A member of the House of Representatives for Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency, Abass Agboworin, has empowered People Living with Disabilities (PLWD) in his constituency in a groundbreaking initiative.
Speaking at the event, Agboworin acknowledged the dignitaries present from both local governments that make up his constituency.
According to the lawmaker, “Beneficiaries of today’s empowerment and cash support programs were selected from both party members (PDP) and the general constituency.”
He added, “This is the first edition of this initiative. Rest assured, more empowerment programs are coming to benefit my people. More individuals will be included in the 2025 budget.”
Agboworin explained further, “We are adopting a universal approach to empowerment. This is why we are providing deep freezers and cash support to people living with disabilities to promote economic empowerment and sustainability.”

He also announced plans for women empowerment in the near future, aimed at supporting women in his constituency.
“I urge the beneficiaries to remain prayerful for more of these initiatives. I am committed to implementing impactful projects for my constituency in all spheres of life, without discrimination,” he said.
Mrs. Steve Ogundipe, a representative of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), congratulated the beneficiaries and commended Agboworin for his initiative in empowering PLWD.

She noted, “Agboworin’s selfless service is unparalleled and impactful. This business support initiative is commendable. I advise the beneficiaries to be prudent and business-minded for their own good.”
The state secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Wasiu Adeleke, praised Agboworin for consistently making the party proud with his sterling representation of the federal constituency.
“The PDP is proud of all its flag-bearers. Agboworin’s performance has endeared him to his constituents, as evident from today’s event,” Adeleke stated.
Hon. Dare Adeleke also advised the beneficiaries to maximize the opportunities provided for their personal growth and the economic prosperity of their community.
“Abass Agboworin has been a dutiful and effective lawmaker, putting smiles on the faces of his constituents since the beginning of his tenure,” he added.
Barrister Adekanmbi, Special Adviser to Governor Makinde on People Living with Disabilities, congratulated Agboworin for prioritizing the empowerment of PLWD in his constituency.
“My office has created a monitoring unit to ensure the proper use of these items and to encourage those who utilize them effectively,” Adekanmbi explained.
He also highlighted that the PDP-led government in Oyo State has employed over 500 PLWD into the state workforce, demonstrating the party’s commitment to inclusivity.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, Mojeed Olubode expressed gratitude to Hon. Abass Agboworin for his inclusive representation. He prayed for the lawmaker’s continued success.
The event, held at the Local Government House, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan, was attended by notable personalities, including Hon. Wasiu Adeleke (State Secretary of PDP, Oyo State), Hon. Olufade (Ibadan North Local Government Chairman), Hon. Adebanjo Peter, Hon. Remi Yusuf (Ibadan North East Leader), and Hon. Dare Adeleke (former PDP National Officer).
