7 January, 2025, marks a significant milestone in the life of a Nigerian sports icon, Dr Raufu Bolaji Ojo-Oba, as he celebrates his 70th birthday. This remarkable individual has left an indelible mark on the Nigerian sports landscape, particularly in the realm of football.

Dr Ojo-Oba has exhibited versatility and expertise throughout his career, serving in a variety of roles, including Commissioner of Sports in Oyo State, Instructor and Commissioner for the Confederation of African Football.

Dr Ojo-Oba who hails from Ibadanland, was born on 7 January, 1955. He obtained his first degree in French from the University of Lagos and master’s in the same discipline from the same University and later earned his master’s and doctorate in Sports Administration from the University of Ibadan.

Dr Ojo-Oba began his career as a Sports Administrator in the 1980s. He worked as a Sports Officer in the National Sports Commission (NSC), Lagos, before becoming the Commissioner for Sports in Oyo State.
