The All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate Ibrahim Shittu has been confirmed as winner of the re-run election in Saki West State Constituency, Oyo State, on Saturday, 3rd February, 2024.
Ibrahim Shittu defeated his closest rival from PDP, Julius Okedoyin, and the candidates of other political parties.
It should be recall that the rerun, held in two polling units of the state constituency became necessary in reference to the judgement of the election tribunal as delivered.
In the judgement, the tribunal ruled that over 1,000 voters were disenfranchised in the first ballot held during the February 2023 general elections, and upheld by the Appeal Court.
Thus, the election petition tribunal sacked Shittu and ordered for a re-run election in the two polling units affected.
At the end of the rerun in the two units, APC candidate polled 13,850, while the PDP candidate had 13,670 votes.
