Bimbo Adekanmbi Visits Bodija Explosion Site, Commends Oyo Govt., Donates N2.5m, Offers Usage of Heavy Equipments

BODIJA EXPLOSION: Following the devastating explosion that rocked the Dejo Oyelese area of old Bodija in Oyo State on Tuesday night, a former Commissioner of Finance, Budget and Planning, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, paid a visit to the site on Thursday afternoon.

Adekanmbi while at the Bodija explosion site commended the prompt actions of the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde.

According to him, the swift response and interventions of the Oyo State government in ensuring that injured residents received prompt medical attention at the University Hospital College (UCH) and other nearby facilities commendable.

He also praised the government’s decision to provide temporary accommodation for the victims at nearby hotels.

While assessing the extent of the damage, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi visited the epicenter of the Bodija explosion.

He further observed and commended the tireless and untiring efforts of Professor Tope Alonge and the entire Recovery Team. They remain on site with Heavy Equipment and Medical Personnel and Security Agents, carrying out the grim task.

Adekanmbi also uses the opportunity to visit the former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barr. Iyiola Oladokun, SAN Niyi Akintola and some other residents whose properties were affected by the blast.

Adekanmbi then urged all well-meaning citizens of Oyo State and beyond to complement the government’s efforts in the wake of this tragedy, describing the devastation as “huge.”

“This is a time for unity and compassion,” Adekanmbi stated.

“The people of Oyo State have faced a terrible tragedy, and it is our responsibility to help each other through this difficult time.

“I call on all those who are able to contribute in whatever way they can, whether it be through financial donations, volunteering their time, or simply offering words of encouragement to those who have lost loved ones or their homes.”

To demonstrate his commitment to supporting the affected community, Adekanmbi made an immediate personal donation of N2.5 million to the Dejo Oyelese Landlord Association.

He also volunteered the usage of his Heavy Earth Moving and Construction Equipment, whenever the Association has a need for it as part of the recovery and reconstruction efforts.
