The Federal Government through Ministry of Power has announced additional 625 megawatts to the national grid, this development has increased the grid’s wheeling capacity to 4800 megawatts.
This disclosure was made by the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu at the commissioning of the 63 MVA, 132/33kV mobile stations at Ajah, Lagos State and Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, simultaneously.
In fulfilment of the renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, Adelabu commissioned the substation which according to the Power Minister represents a strategic deployment aimed at improving the transmission capacity constraints by over 1,300MW across the nation.
“This Mobile Substation represents a strategic deployment aimed at improving the transmission capacity constraints by over 1300MW across the nation. Its strategic placement at key sites such as Okene, Amukpe, Potiskum, Apo, Ajah, Birnin Kebbi and others underscores our dedication to enhancing transmission efficiency and reliability nationwide”. Adelabu stated.
The Power Minister laid emphasis on the multifaceted significance of the mobile substation as a catalyst for capacity enhancement within the transmission network, beacon of hope for businesses and households reliant for uninterrupted power supply.
The Minister of Power also informed the public of a remote commissioning of a 60 MVA Power Transformer at Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State. He explained the combined effect of both equipment to improve electricity capacity by 123MW.
“I am pleased to announce the remote commissioning of a 60 MVA Power Transformer at Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State. Together, these equipment’s will boost our transmission wheeling capacity by 123MW, thereby paving the way for enhanced electricity supply for all Nigerians.” he added.
Adelabu also used the medium to appreciate the collaborative efforts of FGN Power Company, the German government and Siemens Energy for facilitating the production and installation of the equipment.
“I commend the collaborative efforts of the FGN Power Company, the German government, and Siemens Energy, whose partnership has facilitated the production and installation of these world-class assets.” the Minister said.
Adelabu in his closing remarks reminded all Nigerians on the collective responsibility of safeguarding our national assets, he urged the public to protect these vital installation against acts of vandalism and sabotage.
“I must emphasize that the success of these initiatives hinges on collective responsibility. I implore all Nigerians to safeguard these vital installations against acts of vandalism and sabotage, recognizing them as essential economic assets crucial to our nation’s development.” Adelabu concluded.
