FG Begins Construction Of 250-unit Housing Estate In Erunmu

ERUNMU — The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, on Tuesday, started the 250 housing units Renewed Hope Estate in Oyo State as part of Federal Government efforts to reduce housing deficits and provide affordable housing for Nigerians.

The inauguration was held at Erunmu Dry Port in the Egbeda Local Government Area of the state.

He said the housing project was designed to be affordable for individuals and families with a stable source of income, adding that the importance of quality construction and adherence to the highest standards of construction.

Dangiwa warned that the government would not tolerate substandard work and would use legal means to ensure that contractors deliver as per the contract.

He said, “The estate includes a mix of one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom semi-detached bungalows. We will not tolerate substandard work from any developer, and we will explore all necessary legal means to ensure that they deliver as per the contract.

“This estate represents our commitment to ensuring that every Nigerian has access to quality housing, regardless of their financial situation.

“We are dedicated to delivering on this promise, and we look forward to working with the people of this state to make this vision a reality.

“The Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme is part of President Bola Tinubu’s plan to turn the country into a huge construction site and unlock the potential of the housing sector to create jobs and boost economic development.”

Earlier, the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Tijjani Gwarzo, lauded the programme and expressed confidence that the project would create job opportunities for various skilled workers during the construction phase.

In his remarks, the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who was represented by the state Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Williams Akin-Funmilayo, who performed the turning of the sod on behalf of the state government, said with the Federal Government’s housing initiative, the housing deficit in the state will be drastically reduced.

He advised the Federal Government not to limit the housing initiative to Ibadan but to other zones of the state, which he said have been linked with good road networks by the state government.

  1. This is a good development, I commend President Bola Ahamed Tinibu for this initiative. This housing project will open up Erunmu and its environs for Economic advancement which tends to offer a laudable sustainable development for the town by extension Ibadan and Oyo State at large in future. I hereby employed the people of Erunmu and the Oyo State Government to compliment the efforts of President Bola Ahamed Tinubu led administration to make the project a success .
