The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Comfort Eduserve Ltd, Dr Babatunde Olawoore, has said that he imbibed the virtue of hard work at the University of Ibadan.
He stated this after his investiture and decoration as a UI@75 Ambassador in Ibadan.
He said that hard work, diligence, and serious mindedness could get you into high places, and these were some of the virtues he learnt while undergoing his study at the premier university.
According to Dr. Olawoore, God Almighty and these virtues had helped him achieve success in his endeavours in life.
He also appreciated the late Chief Bola Ige, the first ever President of the University of Ibadan Alumni Association, who, as governor of Oyo State, introduced free education which gave him and millions of others the opportunity to be educated.
Dr. Olawoore assured that he would always project the University of Ibadan in the best light.
He promised to contribute to ensuring that UI became a smart university because he had attended a smart university in the United Kingdom, and he knows that it is most beneficial.
The 2007 Master of Managerial Psychology alumnus also promised to leverage his vast international connections to the advantage of UI.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, had earlier said that the University of Ibadan had identified Dr Olawoore as one of its leading alumni, hence the investiture and decoration as a UI@75 Ambassador.
Professor Adebowale explained that even though the 75th Foundation Day Anniversary of UI was 17 November, 2023, the celebration would last a whole year.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration and Chairman of the UI@75 Anniversary Committee, Professor Peter O. Olapegba, FNPA, had told the Ambassador that the celebration of UI@75 is hinged on the raising of funds to meet some of the major needs of the university.
He reiterated such needs to include the upscaling of the UI Endowment Fund, conversion of research into innovation for national development and the upgrading of the University into a smart university to meet the world standards of today.
He also stated that the University requires funds to provide alternative clean energy, provide scholarships for both excellent and indigent students as well as train and retrain staff to ensure staff mobility.
