Oyo’s illustrious son, Sulaiman Ajibola Afonja, popularly known by his company’s name, IDS, has been reportedly dead.

Afonja who was a former minister under the interim government of Ernest Shonekan and contested the 1999 senatorial election in Oyo central under the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party, APP died at 82, same day his favorite football club, Arsenal, finished second in the English Premier League, making 20 years without the coveted prize.

It was learnt, as reported by OyoInsight, that the industrialist who put his hometown of Oyo on business map, with his Integrated Dimensional System, IDS, died Sunday night at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan.

Though details were sketchy about his death, it was learnt that he was rushed to the medical facility where he breathed his last after he got injured in a lone accident in Ilora, a few kilometers drive from his country home in Eleekara.
