In a new development, the Olubadan-elect, Owolabi Olakunlehin will be the first Olubadan of Ibadanland to freshly used the newly built and modernised Olubadan Palace located at the Oke Aremo area of the ancient city.
As reported by OYOINSIGHT.COM, except there is a change of plans, Owolabi Olakulehin will be moving to the newly constructed palace after his installation ceremony at Mapo.
The facility, built few kilometers away from the old one at Oja’ba, would be commissioned few days after Balogun’s official burial by ‘Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State.
Also, it was revealed that plans for the coronation of Olakulehin have reached top gears and would be done in June.

Olakulehin’s installation would be a week-long event as it is usually done, and would be preceded by the official burial of his predecessor, Oba Lekan Balogun, on June 1. Tentatively, the new Olubadan would be installed same week.
For the state burial and installation of Balogun and Olakulehin respectively, four aso ebi have been selected— one for the burial, another for the palace commissioning, the third one for coronation while the fourth one is for thanksgiving service.
“Thank God, we have concluded all plans. Our new Kabiyesi would operate from our new palace at Oke Aremo. We are also happy that after a long while, our revered monarch would rule from there. Our brother and Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde would commission the facility for use few days before the coronation. For effective administration, Kabiyesi cannot rule from his ancestral compound because we considered the cost to construct the road and put other facility in place,” the source added.
