Ibadan, Oyo State – The Rotary Club of Iyaganku-Ibadan has commissioned a renovated block of classrooms at Bishop Akinyele Basic School, Joyce-B Area of Ibadan.
The project, undertaken as part of the club’s Education and Literacy month initiative, aimed to provide a conducive learning environment for pupils by reconstructing and furnishing a block of classrooms in the school.
The renovated block consists of three classrooms, furnished with tables and chairs to enhance comfort learning. The project was commissioned on April 25, 2025.
In his address, the District Governor of the Rotary Club, Rotarian Kayode Olowolagba, detailed the importance of Rotary’s Basic Education and Literacy initiative, highlighting its continuous benefits to the general society.
The DG further noted that the club had previously commissioned a borehole serving the school and the general community before the initiative of classroom furnishing and renovation. He congratulated the President of the club and its entire members for advancing the cause of humanity in educational intervention and development, as evident in Bishop Akinyele Basic Primary School.
The school Head Mistress, Mrs. Alade, appreciated the commitment of the Rotary Club of Iyaganku-Ibadan for selecting Bishop Akinyele Basic Primary School as a beneficiary of their educational intervention initiative. She prayed that God would continue to strengthen the club and provide for the members’ needs, enabling them to contribute more to societal development.
The formal commissioning celebrated a milestone for the humanitarian organization. In attendance were government officials, community leaders, Rotarians, and school management, including Mr. Adegoke, representing the Education Secretary of the school board, and Hon. Suraj Abiodun Oloye, SA to the Governor on Education Intervention.
The event reflects the club’s commitment to supporting basic education and literacy in the community.
