Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu CON, SAN was more than a Governor; he was a gallant Yoruba Omoluabi who, through his legal expertise and political activism, played a pivotal role in establishing and sustaining our current democratic dispensation.
His impact extended beyond the courtroom, as he delved into practical politics, serving two terms as Governor of Ondo State from 2017 until his sudden demise.
Aketi, as he was affectionately known, dedicated himself to the betterment of society. His governance brought succor, a good life, and the benefits of democracy to the people of Ondo State.
He was not just a regional leader; he used his position to unite Yoruba States in safeguarding the South West’s territorial integrity from external threats.
In this moment of grief, I extend my deepest condolences to his immediate family and the entire people of Ondo State. Aketi’s demise is a profound loss to the nation, and we mourn with those who anticipated his recovery from illness.
His legacy is eternally credited to his dedication to the Ondo people and his instrumental support for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s presidential emergence.
