Two days ago, I observed significant damage to a newly rehabilitated section of the WCCI-OLUSOJI road.

This incident has sparked widespread criticism among road users and the public, who are now questioning the quality of the construction work.

This morning, I conducted an assessment and data collection on the affected area. My findings revealed that the damage was caused by a cement truck that experienced brake failure.

The truck driver used the drainage as a wedge to stop the vehicle but abandoned it without notifying the authorities or the community to seek a solution.

In response, the community has since locked up the site where the truck was destined. The Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency, led by Hon. Busoye Ogunlade, responded promptly by repairing the damaged section.

The community must actively discourage such behaviors and report incidents promptly. Additionally, there is a pressing need to address the concerns regarding the weight of trucks using our roads.

Overloaded vehicles significantly contribute to road damage, necessitating stricter regulations and enforcement to protect our infrastructure.

The government must take immediate and decisive actions against vandals to deter such destructive activities.

By working together, the authorities and the community can ensure the longevity and quality of our road networks, ultimately fostering a safer and more sustainable environment for all.
