At Oyo State Youth Stakeholders Engagement held in Ibadan, youths in their large numbers have unanimously distanced themselves from the planned August 1 protest.

Speaking to Oyo State youths at the gathering, Hon. Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu OFR, who is ably represented by the former Deputy National Youth Leader of APC, Hon. Afeez Bolaji Repete, urged for total distancing from the August 1 protest as it is political and not for the progress of the nation.

“It is important for us to get things right. President Bola Tinubu has been working round the clock in ensuring good governance and dividends of democracy for all. For some to be echoing the protest, it is evident that the reason for the protest is not a sincere one.”

“Among the factors highlighted as why the protest is coming up is the removal of fuel subsidy. But it is still interesting to say that, all the leading presidential candidates in the last general elections agreed to remove the fuel subsidy. So, that means President Bola Tinubu is on course and will reposition all strata of the economy.”

“To count few of those initiatives are Nigeria Students Loan, Nigeria Youth Investment Fund, SMEs loans, MSMEs loans, and many others initiatives to better the lives of Nigerian youths.”

“But it is interesting to say that, many Nigerian youths are not exploring those opportunities for their own betterment and why there is that media noise of President Bola Tinubu is not doing enough.”

She added further that, “we do not have to join the political incline protest against the present government. It is too early to do a political witch-hunt against President Bola Tinubu.”

“I’m appealing to Oyo State youths to shun the protest that is tantamount to disrupting the peace of this country. Let’s embrace peace and explore other means of making our voices heard by our constituted authorities.” She noted.

Also speaking to Oyo State Youth is the state youths leader of APC, Hon. John Aremu Oyetunji who highlighted the transformational projects and programs that have been initiated by the present government of President Bola Tinubu.

“If within a year, we can get those numbers of programs and projects listed, that means Mr. President is moving and we should not allow any unscrupulous elements to brainwash us and disrupt the peaceful atmosphere of our respective societies in the name of protest.”

Present at the engagement are youth leaders of different interests groups and societies across the state.
