Tourism Key to Oyo’s Development, Needs More Funding – Wale Ojo-Lanre

The Director-General of the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism, Wale Ojo-Lanre, has praised the Oyo State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Wasiu Olatunbosun, for revitalizing the state’s cultural heritage and tourism sector.

Ojo-Lanre who described the ministry as the most important for the state’s progress stressed that tourism, arts, and culture form the fulcrum of development and must be pushed further to become more effective.

Addressing the management of the ministry during a brief meeting on moday Ojo Lanre said “It is touris m that drives culture; without it, many cultural activities would have died,” he said, urging the government to increase funding for the sector to maximize its revenue potential.

While commending Governor Makinde for his efforts Ojo Lanre noted that Oyo State is now more conducive for visitors, making travel and tour ism a viable source of income.

While calling for more support from stakeholders, Ojo Lanre encouraged ministry officials to rededicate themselves to the vision of making the state a prime destination.

In his remarks, Hon. Olatunbosun highlighted the ministry’s efforts in sensitizing stakeholders on the import and the need to enhance tourism in the state.

 

Olatubosun who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to leveraging tou rism for economic growth and cultural preservation added that Governor Makinde has created have a conducive environment to throve there is security and infrastructure.
